Brown Force One

“Tony Blair has given the go-ahead for the purchase of two aircraft costing £100 million for Gordon Brown and the Queen to fly around the world on official visits.
The Times can disclose that the Prime Minister will, as one of his last acts in power, sanction a Royal Flight of jets this week for use by the Queen and his successor.
The idea of a “Blair Force One”, on the lines of the US President’s Air Force One, has been considered at different times throughout Mr Blair’s premiership. But ironically his decision will benefit Mr Brown, who is likely to get far more use out of it than the Queen.” (The Times)

Instead of being Blair Force One, it will be Brown Force One. Quite how it can be justified right now, though, I don’t know. Blair should not be making such decisions in these dying days of his premiership. At the very least, Brown should be heavily involved in all of the decisions between now and when he officially becomes Prime Minister. Making these sort of decisions now is utterly wrong, and just a way for Brown to get a few unpleasant decisions made in a way that will be blamed on Blair rather than him.

Disgusting. Blair should not be making decisions. In fact, he should really have stood down by now as brown is unchallenged and there isn’t even going to be an affirmation vote from the membership.
